General Secretary of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Vinod Kumar Pandey, launched a scathing counter-attack on the statement made by the BJP’s State Chief Spokesperson and said that comparing the State Government to grave historical tragedies is not only a misuse of political discourse but also reflects the BJP’s desperation and political frustration.
Pandey remarked that instead of making such undignified and irresponsible statements, the BJP should focus on addressing the real issues concerning the public. He said that those who have institutionalized a politics of undermining democratic institutions and suppressing opposition voices across the Country have no moral right to lecture Jharkhand’s democratically elected government.
The JMM General Secretary also said that distorting facts regarding protests, law and order, and social media regulations is the BJP’s habitual political style. He stressed that the Government has a responsibility to ensure law and order while simultaneously protecting democratic rights; characterizing administrative procedures as political repression is entirely misleading.
Pandey said that BJP leaders should first account for the treatment of democratic rights, students, farmers, and opposition leaders in states governed by their own party. Addressing the BJP’s allegations regarding the Jharkhand Public Service Commission ( JPSC ) issue, he explained that decisions concerning which counsel represents the Government in the judiciary are matters of legal procedure and the prerogative of Government advocates. Framing this as a political conspiracy is merely an attempt to cast unnecessary doubt on the judicial process, he added.
The party General Secretary added that if the BJP possesses any concrete facts, documents, or legal objections regarding the JPSC matter, it should present them before a competent court rather than spreading confusion through press conferences. Instead of playing politics in the name of student interests, the BJP should disclose what concrete steps it took for their future during its own tenure, he added.
Pandey affirmed that the Hemant Soren Government is committed to the welfare of the youth, students, and the general public. Advising the BJP, he said that its leaders should exercise restraint regarding both their language and the facts they present. Instead of frightening the people of Jharkhand with alarming historical references like Nazi Germany, the BJP should give an account of its policies and performance, he added.
The party General Secretary further said that the BJP should take note of the new diktat issued by its own Government in Maharashtra, which mandates that those who do not know Marathi will face fines and be barred from earning a livelihood in the State. For residents of Jharkhand and other States, a driving license and permit will no longer suffice to drive in Maharashtra; they will also have to pass a Marathi language test. He also asked the BJP to explain, will one now have to pass a test in the local language before being allowed to work in any state across the country?
