A vibrant cultural evening was organised at Shibu Soren Smriti Bhawan (Town Hall), Bokaro, on the eve of the 80th Independence Day. Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha and Superintendent of Police Nathu Singh Meena jointly inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
Students from various schools presented patriotic songs, group dances and cultural performances highlighting the freedom struggle, national unity, cultural diversity and the vision of a developed India. The performances filled the auditorium with patriotic spirit and received enthusiastic applause.
DC Ajay Nath Jha said Independence Day reminds everyone of the sacrifices of freedom fighters and called upon citizens to uphold national unity, integrity and democratic values. SP Nathu Singh Meena stressed the role of every citizen in nation-building and urged people to promote peace, harmony and brotherhood.
Students from MGM Higher Secondary School, DAV Public School, Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Shri Ayyappa Public School and various Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas participated in the programme.
District toppers in Matriculation and Intermediate examinations under JAC, CBSE and ICSE were felicitated with medals and certificates. Participating students were also honoured.
