Cabinet approves implementation of VB-G RAM G scheme in state

The Jharkhand cabinet today approved the implementation of the VB-G RAM G (Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission) scheme across the state. To protect workers’ rights and ease the financial pressure on rural households, the state government decided to bear the entire 40% state share for the wages itself.
The cabinet approved the implementation of the Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G- Gramin) scheme in the state and directed the rural development department to make provision for additional jobs for PVTGs,” additional chief secretary (Cabinet Secretariat) Vandana Dadel told reporters after the meeting.
The Jharkhand government approving the scheme in state assume importance as earlier, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress had opposed VB-G RAM G scheme. The law replaces the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
The Cabinet nod to the scheme has come at the time when, Centre has notified wage rates for unskilled manual workers under VB-G RAM G Act, 2025, which comes into effect today, replacing the two-decade-old Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), 2005.
Daily wages have been fixed between Rs 300 and Rs 409 across states. Northern and northeastern states such as Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam, Tripura, Sikkim and West Bengal have seen wage hikes of over 15%.
Dadel said the cabinet cleared 27 proposals, including administrative approval of Rs 4,189.41 crore for the construction of RIMS-2, an extension of the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi.
The Jharkhand Cabinet has approved the ambitious RIMS-2 project, clearing the way for what is expected to become one of Asia’s largest healthcare institutions. The Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, granted administrative approval of ₹4,189.41 crore for the project.
Welcoming the decision, Jharkhand Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Hemant Soren, saying the approval reflected the government’s commitment to strengthening the state’s healthcare infrastructure.
The cabinet also cleared the proposal for holding the National Stakeholder Consultation 2026 in New Delhi on July 8 and 9. The event will be chaired by CM Soren.
Approval was also given for setting up 28 temporary fair outposts (OP) and 19 traffic OPs in Deoghar in view of the Shravani Mela from July 30 to August 28, Dadel said.
The cabinet also gave its nod of ₹36.30 crore for the widening and strengthening of the 2.69 km road connecting Birsa Chowk and Dhurwa Roundabout via Chandni Chowk in Ranchi. Approval for the lease settlement of 0.18 acres of Jharkhand government land in Seraikela to M/s Ridcard for industrial use for a period of 30 years on a paid-lease basis.
Approval of ₹88.84 crore for the construction of the 3.25 km Paladih-Bhognadih road in Sahibganj. Approval of ₹221.4121 crore for the widening and strengthening of a 51.93 km stretch of the Govindpur-Sahibganj road.
The Cabinet also approved to issue a Letter of Intent for the establishment of Pebya Rishikesh University in Chandankiyari (Bokaro) under the Jharkhand State Private Universities Act, 2024. Approval of ₹33.76 crore to improve the riding quality of the Simaria-Tandwa road.
Approval for the amendment of Personnel Department Resolution No. 3286. Approval of ₹128.20 crore for the construction of the Pakur-Kharutola link road, following its transfer to the Road Construction Department.
