K. Ravi Kumar, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Jharkhand, on Friday held a meeting with representatives of recognized political parties at Nirvachan Sadan to review preparations for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls.
The CEO informed that the Election Commission of India has scheduled the SIR exercise in the state from June 20, 2026. As part of the process, the draft electoral roll will be published on August 5, 2026, along with separate lists of absent, shifted, deceased, and duplicate voters. These lists will be shared booth-wise with all recognized political parties in both soft and hard copies, and will also be made available on the official website of the CEO.
Kumar stated that mapping of the current electoral roll with previous rolls is currently underway. In this connection, a list of unmapped voters will be displayed at polling stations for two weeks starting May 23. He urged such voters to contact their respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and complete the mapping process by providing the required information. He clarified that mapped voters will not need to submit any additional documents during the SIR exercise.
Emphasizing compliance, the CEO said that the SIR process is strictly meant for eligible Indian citizens, warning that any false declaration by non-citizens would attract action under Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950.
He also requested all recognized political parties to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) at every polling station. Training for BLAs will begin from June 15 to ensure smooth implementation of the revision process.
Senior officials including Additional CEO Subodh Kumar, Training Nodal Officer Dev Das Dutta, Deputy Electoral Officer Dheeraj Kumar Thakur, and other election officials were present at the meeting.
