The Indian National Congress on Wednesday organised a student interaction and awareness programme at Nirmala College, Ranchi, as part of its nationwide “Students Dialogue” (Chhatron Ki Goonj) campaign, calling for greater transparency in examinations and accountability for alleged paper leaks.
The event was attended by Bermo MLA Kumar Jaimangal Singh as the chief guest and coordinated by Shashi Panna, National Coordinator of the All-India Adivasi Congress. Former Child Welfare Commission member Ujjwal Prakash Tiwari, along with several Congress leaders, students and party workers, also participated.
Addressing the gathering, Congress leaders criticised the Union government over its handling of examination-related controversies, including alleged paper leaks and recruitment delays. The party also condemned the police action against students during a recent protest in New Delhi, alleging that peaceful demonstrators were subjected to force and that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and opposition MPs were detained while attempting to raise students’ concerns.
The Congress claimed that repeated examination irregularities, including the NEET-UG 2026 controversy and alleged discrepancies in evaluation, had eroded students’ confidence in the country’s examination system. It also alleged that delays in recruitment and paper leaks had adversely affected millions of aspirants.
The party reiterated several demands, including the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, an independent audit of the examination process, a parliamentary debate on education reforms, an investigation into alleged paper leak networks, and the dissolution of the National Testing Agency (NTA). It also sought a legally binding annual calendar for examinations and recruitments.
Congress leaders said the “Chatron Ki Gunj” campaign is currently being conducted across 28 cities and will be expanded to 100 cities to engage students and highlight issues related to examinations, recruitment and public education.
