Bokaro: Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha chaired a meeting at the Bokaro Collectorate with BSL management and representatives of the Apprentice Displaced Association to review employment and other issues concerning displaced people.
The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Nathu Singh Meena, Deputy Development Commissioner Shatabdi Majumdar, trainee IAS Arvind Radhakrishnan, Additional Collector Sunil Chandra, DPLR Purnima Kumari, Deputy Director Public Relations Ravi Kumar, Labour Superintendent Ranjit Kumar, Circle Officer Ramsevak Ram, Executive Magistrates, APRO Avinash Kumar Singh, BSL CGM (Township) Kundan Kumar and association representatives.
Discrepancies in employment figures presented by DPLR, BSL management and the association were discussed. BSL was directed to submit by September 5 a detailed report and list showing how many members of the 37,499 affected displaced families had received employment.
DPLR was asked to make the employment list available online and prepare an updated record of youths who underwent apprenticeship training and secured jobs. The Labour Superintendent was also asked to submit a report.
The meeting reviewed BSL’s efforts to provide employment to remaining trained youths and stressed strict compliance with Supreme Court directions. Stakeholders were urged to maintain transparency and adopt a constructive approach towards resolving displaced people’s concerns.
The issue of 19 villages yet to receive panchayat status was also discussed. The Deputy Commissioner said the matter had already been taken up with the state government. Compliance regarding works reserved for displaced people was also reviewed.
