DGP reviews security ahead of Jagannathpur Rath Yatra

Director General of Police (DGP) Tadasha Mishra on Thursday conducted a comprehensive review of security and administrative arrangements for the upcoming Jagannathpur Rath Yatra and annual fair in Ranchi.
A high-level meeting was held at the Jagannathpur Temple premises, attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan, City SP Paras Rana, Traffic SP Rakesh Singh, other senior police and administrative officials, members of the fair committee and local representatives.
During the review, the DGP directed officials to strengthen security along the Rath Yatra route and across the fairgrounds. She instructed the deployment of additional CCTV cameras, plainclothes police personnel, and a dedicated women’s police force to ensure the safety of female devotees.
Mishra also stressed the need for smooth traffic management, adequate security and lighting at parking areas, and the establishment of help desks and medical camps to assist visitors during the event.
She said effective coordination between the administration and the public would be essential for ensuring the peaceful and well-organised conduct of the historic festival, which attracts lakhs of devotees every year.
The administration has intensified preparations to ensure that the Rath Yatra and fair are conducted safely and without disruption.
