Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) central secretary and spokesperson Pankaj Mishra on Tuesday announced that a direct train service between Pakur and New Delhi is expected to begin soon, while passenger amenities at Pakur railway station will also be upgraded.
Speaking to reporters after arriving at Pakur by the Jan Shatabdi Express from Kolkata, Mishra said he held a nearly two-and-a-half-hour meeting on Monday with Eastern Railway General Manager Milind K. After spending about 30 minutes at Pakur railway station, Mishra left for Sahibganj by the Sahibganj Intercity Express.
On his arrival, JMM workers led by district vice-president Samad Ali accorded him a warm welcome at Platform No. 1. Party workers presented him with bouquets and garlands at the VIP waiting room.
