DPS Ranchi Celebrates 80th Independence Day with Patriotic Fervour and Pride

Delhi Public School Ranchi celebrated the 80th Independence Day with immense patriotic fervour, pride and enthusiasm. Students, parents, teachers and members of the school staff gathered on the school campus to commemorate the historic occasion and pay tribute to the countless sacrifices that shaped the nation’s journey towards freedom.

The entire campus was beautifully adorned in the colours of the Indian Tricolour, creating an atmosphere of unity, pride and patriotism. The celebrations reflected the spirit of the themes “150 Years of Vande Mataram” and “Har Ghar Tiranga”, inspiring everyone to celebrate the nation not merely as a festival but as a shared responsibility.

The day commenced with a soulful rendition of the National Song, “Vande Mataram”, filling the campus with patriotic spirit. This was followed by the Flag Hoisting Ceremony by the Honourable Principal, Dr. Jaya Chauhan. As the National Flag soared proudly against the sky, the gathering joined in the rendition of the National Anthem. The ceremonial proceedings were further enhanced by an impressive March Past presented by the students of the Secondary and Primary Wings, NCC Cadets and the School Parade Band. Their disciplined movements and synchronised performance reflected dedication, confidence and respect for the nation.

Following the March Past, the cultural programme commenced at the Vivekananda Auditorium. The programme opened with a stirring patriotic song, “Woh Mitti Ke Bete,” presented by the school choir. The melodious rendition celebrated the courage, sacrifice and indomitable spirit of the sons and daughters of the soil.

This was followed by an insightful speech by Rudransh Krishna of Class XII, who shared his thoughts on the meaning of “Freedom.” His address highlighted the immense contributions and sacrifices of the freedom fighters and reflected on the responsibilities of citizens in contemporary India. He emphasised that true freedom also calls for responsible citizenship and active participation in the nation’s growth and development.

The school choir then presented another patriotic composition, “Chandan Hai Is Desh Ki Maati,” which beautifully expressed reverence for the motherland and the values that bind the nation together.

Adding a poetic dimension to the celebrations, Rishi Jain of Class VIII presented the poem “Yeh Hai Humara Pyara Bharat,” portraying the pride, diversity and glory of the motherland.

The young learners of Class I then presented a delightful skit depicting the journey of the Indian National Flag, taking the audience through its evolution and highlighting the significance of the Tricolour as a symbol of national identity, unity and pride.

The students of Classes III to V presented another thought-provoking skit on “India of Our Dreams.” The presentation envisioned the India of 2047 and highlighted the aspirations of young citizens for a progressive, inclusive, sustainable and developed nation. The performance beautifully conveyed the message that the India of tomorrow is shaped by the dreams, choices and actions of today’s generation.

The cultural extravaganza continued with an energetic dance presentation by the students of Class XI, which was followed by another vibrant dance performance by the students of Classes VI to X, filling the auditorium with enthusiasm and patriotic spirit.

Addressing the gathering, the Honourable Principal, Dr. Jaya Chauhan, emphasised the importance of responsible citizenship and purposeful action. She said, “We need to be focused on what we are giving to the Nation. We need to do our duty with honesty and compassion. Independence Day is not merely an emotion; it is a way of life.” She further encouraged the students to understand that the true meaning of independence lies in fulfilling one’s responsibilities, respecting others, serving society and contributing positively to the nation. She urged the young minds to become responsible, compassionate and capable citizens who would carry forward the legacy of the freedom fighters and contribute towards building a stronger and more progressive India.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to the successful celebration. The entire programme was gracefully anchored by the students of DPS Ranchi, whose confidence and eloquence added to the dignity of the occasion.

The celebration served as a meaningful reminder that the freedom enjoyed today is the result of immense sacrifice and that the responsibility of nurturing and strengthening the nation rests with every citizen. At DPS Ranchi, the 80th Independence Day celebration thus became a vibrant expression of patriotism, gratitude, responsibility and hope for an India that continues to rise with courage, unity and purpose.
