Putting Dumka on the global cinematic map, noted filmmaker Prem Prakash Modi is set to represent Jharkhand at the 15th edition of the International Film Festival of South Asia (IFFSA) Toronto 2026. The Canadian Multicultural Heritage Council has invited Modi to North America’s largest South Asian film showcase as a Special Honoured Guest, recognising his creative contributions to Indian regional and independent cinema.
The international festival, which runs from October 8 to October 18 across venues in the Greater Toronto Area, will feature the world premiere of Modi’s latest feature film, ‘Tum Rahe Na Tum’, on October 10 following the gala opening night. A special interactive masterclass and dialogue session focusing on Modi’s filmmaking journey, craft, and distinct visual style has also been scheduled for October 11, giving international film professionals, critics, and film enthusiasts a deeper look into his cinematic perspective.
Over the years, the prestigious platform has drawn leading industry figures including Manoj Bajpayee, Shabana Azmi, Anurag Kashyap, Priyanka Chopra, and Imtiaz Ali. The festival organizers highlighted that Modi’s presence underscores the rising global resonance of regional narratives from India, bringing prominent international focus to Dumka’s creative talent.
