Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary Alok Kumar Dubey has welcomed the registration of an FIR on the complaint of student Sahil Lochab following Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s protest in Delhi, describing it as an important step towards securing justice for the student.
Dubey said Gandhi’s protest was not driven by political interests but was aimed at seeking justice for an injured student and defending democratic rights. He said the FIR was only the beginning and called for an impartial investigation into the matter, with legal action against anyone found guilty.
He said Gandhi had once again demonstrated that the Congress stands firmly with students and young people when they raise their voices against injustice. According to Dubey, the protest in Delhi and Gandhi’s initiative to highlight the concerns of students in Pune were part of the same broader struggle for the rights, dignity, safety and future of young people.
Dubey also highlighted the ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ programme scheduled to be held in Pune on August 22, saying it would provide a special platform for female students to voice their concerns. He claimed that the event had generated considerable enthusiasm among young women across the country.
He said the programme would focus on issues including equal rights, safety, quality education, employment opportunities and the freedom to shape one’s own future.
Dubey said Gandhi’s continued efforts to raise youth-related issues “from the streets to Parliament” had renewed confidence among students and young people. He described the Pune event as an important platform for amplifying the aspirations and concerns of the country’s daughters.
