Dumka is preparing to host Jharkhand’s main Independence Day celebrations, with the Governor scheduled to attend the state-level function as the chief guest. The announcement was made during a high-level review meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Abhijit Sinha at the Collectorate Auditorium.
According to the plan, the Governor will unfurl the national flag at the Police Line Grounds in Dumka at 9 am on August 15. In view of the high-profile visit, the Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to ensure flawless arrangements and complete all preparations well in advance.
Sinha instructed officials to strictly adhere to the state protocol while finalising the seating arrangement on the main stage and ensure that every aspect of the ceremony is conducted without any lapses. He also directed the municipal authorities to undertake extensive cleanliness and beautification drives across the town.
Special emphasis was laid on cleaning, illuminating and decorating the statues of freedom fighters and eminent personalities installed at key locations in the city. The Deputy Commissioner also reminded officials that all government offices, educational institutions and private organisations conducting flag-hoisting ceremonies must strictly follow the Flag Code and guidelines issued by the Union and State governments.
Reviewing the preparedness of the parade ground, Sinha directed officials to level the venue, remove waterlogging caused by monsoon rains and make separate seating arrangements for dignitaries, media personnel and the public.
He further ordered departments to ensure the availability of drinking water, bio-toilets, medical teams, fire tenders, uninterrupted power supply, adequate security and proper parking facilities. Senior district officials, departmental heads and representatives of civil society organisations attended the meeting.
