Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Ajay Nath Jha has directed officials to ensure the successful implementation of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR-2026) campaign, which will begin across the district on June 30, 2026, as per the directives of the Election Commission of India.
The campaign aims to verify and update the electoral roll by mapping voters listed in the 2024 electoral roll with the 2003 voter list. All voters falling under the categories of Mapped Electors, Unmapped Electors, and Electors with Anomalies will be required to submit an Enumeration Form along with a colour photograph.
To support the exercise, Voter Assistance Centres will be opened in all panchayats and urban wards from June 20. These centres will help citizens fill forms and obtain necessary documents, including birth, residential, and caste certificates.
The DC has instructed officials to ensure special outreach to tribal communities, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, the sick, and other vulnerable groups so that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral roll. Teachers may also be deployed, if required, to assist Booth Level Officers and other election personnel.
Ajay Nath Jha said the district administration is committed to conducting the SIR-2026 exercise in a transparent and fair manner. “Every Indian citizen aged 18 years and above has the constitutional right to be enrolled as a voter, and we will ensure that every eligible citizen is verified and registered,” he said.
