Jharkhand Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Radhakrishna Kishore has expressed strong displeasure over the conduct of administrative officers in the state, alleging that many officials display an “arrogant attitude” and fail to accord due respect to elected representatives.
In a letter addressed to the Additional Chief Secretary of the Cabinet Coordination Department and the Speaker of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, the minister sought strict action and urged the government to ensure adherence to existing protocols governing interactions between officials and public representatives.
Kishore alleged that officers routinely ignore letters sent by Members of Parliament and MLAs on public issues and often fail to respond within a reasonable time. He also claimed that many officials do not answer phone calls from elected representatives and, in some cases, keep their mobile phones switched off, making them inaccessible.
The minister said such conduct reflects an attitude of arrogance and is inconsistent with democratic principles. He stressed that public representatives should receive appropriate cooperation from the administration in addressing issues concerning citizens.
The letter calls for corrective measures to improve coordination between the bureaucracy and elected representatives and to ensure greater administrative accountability.
