A fire broke out around 5:30 AM on Sunday at the Basudev Auto (Tata Motors) workshop located in the Kokar Industrial Area, within the jurisdiction of the Sadar police station. Nine four-wheelers parked inside the workshop for repairs and servicing were completely gutted in the blaze.
Upon spotting the fire, the security guard on duty alerted the management. Subsequently, the local police station and the fire department were informed. Three fire tenders arrived at the scene immediately upon receiving the information. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control after a strenuous effort.
The exact cause of the incident is not yet known, but a short circuit is suspected to be the reason based on preliminary findings. The police are investigating the matter, and an assessment of the damage is underway.
Workshop officials stated that the owners of the damaged vehicles have been informed via telephone, and further action will be taken subsequently.
