The Dumka district administration moved swiftly to thwart an effigy-burning agitation planned by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) against the state government at the bustling Teen Bazaar Chowk.
A large contingent of police personnel, backed by riot-control vehicles, effectively blockaded the student wing’s local office well ahead of the scheduled demonstration, detaining workers inside and preventing them from reaching the protest venue.
Reacting sharply to the administrative crackdown, ABVP City Joint Secretary Aditya Joshi accused the state dispensation of utilizing the police machinery to muzzle democratic dissent and demoralize job aspirants. Joshi stated that youth across Jharkhand are simply demanding fair employment opportunities and foolproof transparency in competitive examinations, only to be met with state-sponsored suppression and baton charges.
The student outfit pressed for an impartial, high-level probe into the recent lathi-charge incidents reported in Giridih, Ranchi, and Garhwa, alongside strict inquiries into allegations of misbehavior against female student demonstrators during previous rallies.
Undeterred by the blockade, the ABVP reaffirmed its commitment to keep waging a peaceful and democratic struggle across the state for examination integrity, student rights, and systemic educational reforms.
