Chairman resigns following large-scale protest over irregularities

The Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) has postponed the Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Main (Written) Examination 2025, which was scheduled to be held from July 25 to 27, 2026, at various examination centres in Ranchi.
In an official notification, the Commission said the examination will not be conducted on the previously announced dates. A revised examination schedule, including fresh dates for the written test, will be issued separately. Candidates have been advised to regularly visit the JPSC’s official website for updates on the revised schedule, admit cards and other examination-related information.
The Commission has not disclosed the reason behind the postponement or indicated when the fresh dates will be announced. It has also urged candidates not to rely on rumours and to refer only to official notifications for authentic information regarding the examination.
According to the Commission, new admit cards will be issued after the revised examination dates are finalised. The hall tickets, expected to be released a few days before the examination, will contain details of the examination centre, date, timing and important instructions. Candidates have been advised to keep their registration details handy to facilitate downloading the admit cards once they are made available.
The Combined Civil Services Main Examination was originally slated for July 25, 26 and 27 in Ranchi, and aspirants had intensified their preparations ahead of the test. While the postponement has delayed the recruitment process, the Commission clarified that the examination has been deferred, not cancelled, and advised candidates to continue their preparations.
The postponement comes amid recent concerns raised by candidates over the recruitment process. Several aspirants had questioned the transparency of the examination system and alleged that the agency engaged to conduct JPSC examinations had previously been blacklisted in Uttar Pradesh. However, the Commission’s notification does not cite these allegations as the reason for postponing the examination. Candidates are now awaiting the Commission’s next official announcement regarding the revised schedule.
Meanwhile, JPSC Chairman L Khiangte resigned from his post following the controversy. Sources said that his resignation has been accepted by the Governor on Wednesday.
The youth cell of the Bharatiya Janata Party organised a huge protest in Ranchi against the JPSC examination irregularities. The BJYM cadres gathered near the JPSC office and lodged a protest. The party also tried to gherao Congress office, where party workers were confronted with Congress supporters. No untoward incident was reported during the protests.
