The Blood Centre at Sadar Hospital, Lohardaga, has received a licence from the Government of India for blood collection, storage, processing and distribution, marking a significant achievement for the district’s healthcare system. The licence was granted by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) after completion of the prescribed regulatory process. Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Kumar Meena said the approval was the result of the district administration’s sustained efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure. He stated that the licence would enable the Blood Centre to provide safer, more efficient and well-regulated blood services, ensuring timely availability of safe blood to patients in need.
He added that all blood collection, storage, processing and distribution activities would now be carried out in accordance with national standards. The Deputy Commissioner further said that the district administration was committed to making Lohardaga a “blood-secure” and “health-secure” district, and described the licence as a major milestone towards achieving that objective. He congratulated the Health Department, the Blood Centre team and all officials and staff members who contributed to the accomplishment. Appealing to residents to participate in voluntary blood donation, Mr. Meena said that donating blood was a noble act capable of saving lives. He urged youth, social organisations, voluntary groups and citizens to take part in regular blood donation drives so that an adequate supply of blood remains available for patients across the district.
