The Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee on Tuesday reviewed its organisational strengthening drive and the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign for the Lohardaga Lok Sabha constituency, with party leaders urging workers to intensify grassroots outreach and ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral rolls.
The meeting, held at the Town Hall in the Block Campus, was chaired by District Congress President Sukhair Bhagat and began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. It was attended by Jharkhand Congress Co-incharge Dr. Siribella Prasad, State Congress President Keshav Mahato Kamlesh, MP Sukhdeo Bhagat, Lok Sabha Incharge Ashok Chaudhary, District Incharge Alok Kumar Dubey, Gumla District Incharge Shamsher Alam, State Media Incharge Sanjay Kumar, Bishunpur Assembly Incharge Seema Sita Ekka, Gumla District President Rajneel Tigga, former District President Chaitu Oraon, State Representative Nesar Ahmad, Waris Qureshi and several other party leaders, who were welcomed by Congress workers.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Siribella Prasad described the Special Intensive Revision campaign as more than a routine electoral roll revision exercise, calling it a movement to safeguard democracy and the Constitution. He reviewed the progress of the campaign with Booth Level Agents (BLA-2), block and panchayat-level office-bearers, and stressed that every eligible citizen must be included in the voters’ list. He also said the Congress derived its real strength from its grassroots workers and assured them that their concerns would receive priority attention.
State Congress President Keshav Mahato Kamlesh said the party had consistently worked to protect the Constitution, democratic values and the rights of ordinary citizens. He urged workers to strengthen the organisation in every village and at every polling booth, saying unity, discipline and dedication remained the Congress’ greatest assets.
MP Sukhdeo Bhagat termed every Congress worker a guardian of democracy and said the SIR campaign was aimed at protecting citizens’ constitutional right to vote. He appealed to party workers to carry out door-to-door awareness campaigns to ensure that all eligible voters were enrolled in the electoral rolls.
Chairing the meeting, District Congress President Sukhair Bhagat sought greater representation for dedicated grassroots workers in district committees, the Twenty-Point Programme Committee, boards and corporations. He said committed workers deserved greater organisational responsibilities in recognition of their contribution and maintained that empowering grassroots cadres would further strengthen the party.
The meeting was attended by senior Congress leaders and office-bearers from across the Lohardaga Lok Sabha constituency, along with representatives of district, block and panchayat committees. It concluded with a collective resolve to reinforce the party’s booth-level network, uphold democratic and constitutional values, and continue working for the rights and welfare of the people.
