The monsoon is set to gain momentum again in Jharkhand. The Meteorological Department informed that rain will continue in most parts of the State for the next two days.
Light to moderate rain is expected in many districts of the State, with heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds expected at some places. In view of this, people have been advised to exercise extra caution during inclement weather.
The monsoon is expected to remain active on July 25th. Heavy rain is expected in many parts of the state, including Ranchi, Deoghar, Dumka, Giridih, Jamtara, Godda, Pakur, and Sahibganj. Meteorologists say strong winds and thunderstorms are likely.
The Meteorological Department has appealed to people to avoid open fields, tall trees, and electric poles during rain and lightning, and to stay in safe places. The administration is also closely monitoring the situation due to the constantly changing weather.
On July 26, most parts of the state will remain cloudy throughout the day. Intermittent rain is likely in several districts including Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Dhanbad, Ramgarh, Khunti, Gumla, Lohardaga, Koderma, East and West Singhbhum, Simdega and Saraikela-Kharsawan. During this period, strong winds with speeds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also expected. Heavy rain is likely at some places in Latehar and surrounding areas.
From June 1 to July 20, Jharkhand recorded 33 percent less rainfall than normal. While the State should have received 319.8 mm of rainfall during this period, only 261.4 mm has been recorded so far.
In the State Capital, too, rainfall was 19 percent below normal; 331.1 mm of rain was recorded against the normal average of 406.4 mm for this period. Continuous rainfall has also led to a drop in maximum temperatures.
