The Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ), Ranchi, organised a one-day national seminar on “National Stock Exchange (NSE) Research Initiative 2.0” on Friday, bringing together academics, research scholars, students and financial-sector experts to discuss contemporary developments in capital markets and emerging research opportunities.
Jointly organised by the Research and Development (R&D) Cell and the Department of Economics and Development Studies (DEDS), the seminar aimed to familiarise participants with the NSE Research Initiative and its relevance to financial research, investment and economic development.
Dr Sanhita Sucharita, Head of DEDS and Dean, School of Social Sciences, was the convenor, while Dr Dharmendra Singh, Head of the Department of Physics and Associate Dean, R&D Cell, was the co-convenor. The programme was organised under the chairmanship of Prof Manoj Kumar, Dean, R&D Cell.
The inaugural session featured addresses by university officials, including Prof Sarang Medhekar, Vice-Chancellor, CUJ, who stressed the importance of strengthening academic engagement and research in financial markets and contemporary economic issues. Dr Singh highlighted the role of the NSE initiative in strengthening academia-industry collaboration and encouraged young researchers to undertake evidence-based, interdisciplinary and policy-oriented studies.
The first technical session featured a keynote address by Dr Tirthankar Patnaik, Chief Economist, NSE, on financial markets and contemporary developments in the capital market. An interactive session followed, with NSE representatives addressing participants’ queries.
Subsequent sessions focused on capital-market challenges and trends, digital payment systems and financial literacy. Speakers discussed UPI and card-based payments, investment planning, insurance, SIPs, savings, risk management and long-term financial planning.
The seminar concluded with remarks by Dr Sucharita and a vote of thanks by Dr Ashish Kumar Meher, Assistant Professor, DEDS. Faculty members, researchers and students from various departments participated enthusiastically, making the event a platform for academic-industry interaction and greater awareness of financial research and literacy.
