NIT Jamshedpur celebrates Tiranga Adoption Day

The Outreach Activities Unit of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur organised the National Flag Adoption Day (Tiranga Adoption Day) celebration along with a lecture on Wednesday at Diamond Jubilee Lecture Hall Complex (DJLHC). The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, staff, students and research scholars.
The event was graced by Tirthankar Das, Hon’ble Joint Secretary, Lok Sabha Secretariat, Parliament of India, New Delhi, as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Debashis Bandyopadhyay, Chief Scientist and Head, Technology Management Directorate, CSIR, New Delhi, as the Guest of Honour and Distinguished Speaker. The programme was held under the patronage of Prof. Goutam Sutradhar, Director, NIT Jamshedpur, and Prof. Ram Vinoy Sharma, Deputy Director, NIT Jamshedpur.
Delivering the inaugural address, Prof. Goutam Sutradhar, highlighted the historical significance of Tiranga Adoption Day and emphasized that the National Flag symbolizes India’s unity, dignity and constitutional values. He urged students to imbibe the spirit of patriotism, innovation and social responsibility while contributing to the nation’s progress through science, technology and research.
Addressing the gathering, Tirthankar Das, emphasized the importance of the Indian National Flag as a symbol of national unity, sovereignty and democratic values. He encouraged the youth to uphold the ideals enshrined in the Constitution and actively participate in nation-building through responsible citizenship and innovation.
The programme also featured a vibrant cultural presentation reflecting the patriotic spirit of the occasion. Dr. Indrani Sutradhar, enthralled the audience with a soulful patriotic rendition, adding a special cultural and emotional dimension to the celebration.
The cultural programme was further enriched by captivating performances by Dr. Vishesh Ranjan Kar and Dr. Sankar Roy, whose patriotic presentations received warm appreciation from the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, dignitaries, faculty members, staff and students.
Following the inaugural ceremony, NIT Jamshedpur hosted a Distinguished Lecture by Dr. Debashis Bandyopadhyay on the theme “IPR, Entrepreneurship and the Mission-Oriented Innovation Ecosystem.”
During his lecture, Dr. Debashis Bandyopadhyay emphasized that India’s transition towards a knowledge-driven economy depends on building a strong synergy among innovation, intellectual property rights (IPR) and entrepreneurship. He explained that intellectual property acts as the critical bridge between research and commercialization, while entrepreneurship transforms innovative ideas into market-ready products and services with societal impact.
