Ranchi, August 30, 2026: A 12-member delegation of journalists from Jharkhand set out today for Kerala under the aegis of the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Ranchi. The five-day “Press Tour to Keralam,” scheduled from August 31 to September 4, aims to provide media professionals with firsthand exposure to the state’s infrastructure, cultural heritage, and scientific institutions. The program is being coordinated by Regional Publicity Officers Gaurav Kumar Pushkar and Prince Kumar.
The tour begins in Kochi on August 31, where the delegation will witness India’s first modern Kochi Water Metro, a pioneering urban transport system. The team will also explore the multicultural legacy of Fort Kochi and the spice trade hub of Mattancherry. On September 1, the journalists will visit the Rubber Board headquarters in Kottayam to understand Kerala’s rubber economy, followed by a study of eco-tourism initiatives at Vembanad Lake in Kumarakom.
The delegation will reach Thiruvananthapuram on September 2 for formal interactions with the PIB’s Additional Director General and the Governor of Kerala. The itinerary also includes a visit to the historic Padmanabhaswamy Temple. On September 3, the team will tour premier research institutions such as CSIR-NIIST and SCTIMST, gaining insights into Kerala’s advancements in science, medicine, and technology.
The final day, September 4, will feature a visit to the much-discussed Vizhinjam Port, a natural deep-water harbor poised to transform India’s maritime trade. The delegation will also explore the Vikram Sarabhai Space Center, a cornerstone of India’s space program.
This initiative underscores PIB’s commitment to fostering informed journalism by enabling reporters to experience national projects and institutions directly. By engaging with Kerala’s diverse landscape—from eco-tourism models to cutting-edge research facilities—the participating journalists are expected to bring back stories that highlight both the state’s cultural richness and its role in India’s development narrative.
The “Press Tour to Keralam” thus serves as a bridge between policy and public perception, equipping media professionals with authentic insights that can enrich reportage and strengthen the link between governance and citizens.
