Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri on Monday took a tough stand against administrative negligence while addressing public grievances at the weekly Janata Darbar, directing action against erring officials and ensuring immediate assistance in several humanitarian cases.
In a major administrative action, the DC ordered four show-cause notices against Ratu Circle Officer Ravi Kumar for alleged delays in revenue-related matters, including failure to update land records despite approval, non-issuance of online rent receipts and prolonged pendency of cases. He also directed initiation of disciplinary proceedings in one case. Similar action was ordered against the Angara Circle Officer over alleged irregularities in mutation cases.
The hearing witnessed an emotional moment when Deepak Kumar Mahto, a specially-abled man who reached the Collectorate using his hands, was provided an electric tricycle by the district administration. Bhajantri personally handed over the vehicle, enabling him to return home independently.
The DC also intervened in the case of a pregnant woman suffering from a serious heart condition after her family sought financial assistance for safe delivery. He spoke to the Civil Surgeon and directed immediate medical support.
