Rich tributes paid to martyr IPS officer Amarjit Balihar in Dumka

A solemn tribute ceremony was organized at the Dumka Police Lines on Thursday to commemorate the death anniversary of brave martyr Amarjit Balihar, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. Led by Dumka Superintendent of Police (SP) Pitambar Singh Kherwar, police officers and jawans gathered to pay rich floral tributes, bowing before the portrait of the revered officer in a poignant expression of respect and remembrance.
Reflecting on the legacy of the fallen officer, SP Pitambar Singh Kherwar recalled that Amarjit Balihar was serving as the Superintendent of Police in Pakur at the time of the tragic incident. He lost his life during a brutal ambush on his convoy along the highway within the Kathikund police station area. The SP emphasized that Balihar’s exceptional courage, unwavering dedication to duty, and ultimate sacrifice would forever serve as a guiding beacon of inspiration for the entire police force.
The commemorative event witnessed the presence of several high-ranking officials, including Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Sadar) Dilip Khalkho, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Sandeep Bhagat, and Chief Attendant Ramesh Kumar Mandal. Station House Officers (SHOs) from the Town and Muffasil police stations, along with representatives from the Police Association and the Police Men’s Association, also joined the police jawans to honor the martyr. Attendees collectively vowed to uphold the high ideals and unparalleled legacy of the late IPS officer in their ongoing service to the nation.
