The Jharkhand government has set a target to fill all essential teaching posts at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi, by the end of this year. The decision was taken at a meeting of the RIMS Selection Committee chaired by Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Department, Ajay Kumar Singh, on Wednesday.
The meeting reviewed the existing strength of doctors and other staff, vacant positions and the institute’s human resource requirements. Singh directed officials to undertake a comprehensive assessment of sanctioned and working posts and rationalise positions according to the actual requirements of different departments.
He also directed that proposals for restructuring the human resource framework be prepared and submitted after assessing the requirement of each post.
The committee discussed vacancies in teaching positions, including professors, associate professors and assistant professors, besides posts for ANMs, GNMs and other employees. The Additional Chief Secretary also ordered preparation of a draft prescribing clear and transparent criteria for promotions.
Officials were directed to complete all necessary formalities related to recruitment and appointments within a fixed timeline so that the required teaching posts can be filled by December 2026.
Senior officials, including RIMS Director Dr D.K. Singh and Director of Medical Education Dr P. Bhattacharya, attended the meeting.
