Ranchi Municipal Corporation’s (RMC) enforcement team conducted a special anti-encroachment drive on Saturday at Ranchi Women’s College, the Science Block Road, Paramveer Albert Ekka Chowk, and the Bandhgadi area of Ward No. 6.
Unnecessary encroachments near educational institutions obstruct the use of roads and footpaths and increase traffic congestion, causing inconvenience to students, parents and the general public. Addressing this issue, a total of 15 temporary structures were removed during the drive along the Ranchi Women’s College and Science Block Road. Four counters, two tin-shed shops, and other materials were seized during the operation. The removal of encroachments has facilitated smoother traffic flow and reduced congestion and overcrowding on the route.
Additionally, two large counters erected on the road or public space in front of shops at Shastri Market near Paramveer Albert Ekka Chowk, were demolished and seized. Meanwhile, in the Bandhgadi area of Ward No. 6, government land was cleared of encroachments by removing two permanent shops and a house’s projecting ‘Chhajja’ that had been built on public land.
The RMC aims to ensure safe, smooth, and organized movement for citizens by keeping public spaces, footpaths, and government land free from encroachment. The Corporation has appealed to citizens and business owners to refrain from encroaching upon public roads, footpaths, and government land, and to cooperate in maintaining the city’s traffic system and public amenities. Action against encroachments and rule violations will continue in the future.
Meanwhile, Municipal Commissioner, Sushant Gaurav has launched a significant, citizen-centric initiative to bring RMC services closer to the doorsteps of residents within the municipal area. Citizens living in the city’s outlying areas will no longer need to make repeated trips to the Corporation headquarters at Kutchery for minor municipal services. Dedicated circle offices will be developed in various parts of Ranchi city, enabling citizens to access a range of municipal services at a center close to them.
