Moving aggressively to mitigate road hazards and secure key transport corridors, the Dumka district administration has commenced the installation of key safety infrastructure—including convex mirrors, road chevrons, and drum delineators—at major blind spots and accident-prone zones. Undertaken on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Abhijit Sinha, the pre-emptive move is aimed at building a robust traffic safety grid and safeguarding commuters on high-risk stretches.
The administration conducted a thorough assessment of the district’s road network, identifying dangerous curves, narrow passages, and points of low visibility for immediate intervention. The deployment of convex mirrors at sharp turns is expected to give motorists clear sightlines of oncoming traffic, significantly lowering the risk of head-on crashes. Additionally, reflective road chevrons and drum delineators have been placed to outline sharp bends and lane edges, providing vital guidance to drivers navigating during nighttime or poor weather conditions.
Reaffirming its focus on long-term preventive measures, the administration confirmed that the safety layout will be extended to remaining vulnerable zones in upcoming phases, alongside public outreach drives to cultivate better road discipline. In light of these upgrades, DC Abhijit Sinha has appealed to all motorists to strictly observe speed restrictions, wear helmets and seatbelts, and exercise heightened caution when negotiating hazardous turns across the district.
