SCS celebrates International Day of Yoga & World Music Day

June 19, 2026

PNS

Ranchi

Surendranath Centenary School celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga and World Music Day on 19th June with enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and staff from KG to XII.

The Sports Club coordinated a mass yoga session based on the Common Yoga Protocol on the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”. Students from Classes Balvatika to XII, along with teaching and non-teaching staff, participated together in asanas, pranayama, and meditation. The session highlighted yoga’s role in flexibility, joint health, mental calmness, and wellness for all ages. A special ‘Run for Yoga’ was also organized for the junior section to promote fitness and mindfulness from an early age.

As part of the observance, an essay writing competition for Classes IX to XII was conducted where students wrote insightful essays on how yoga contributes to healthy ageing, stress management, and balanced living. A quiz on yoga and wellness was also conducted to test students’ knowledge. For Classes VI to VIII, a Hindi jingle writing competition was organized.

The Art and Culture Club celebrated World Music Day with a vibrant cultural programme that began with an insightful speech on music. This was followed by a soulful classical song performance. Students of Classes III to V presented a group performance titled ‘Unity in Diversity’ based on different languages, showcasing harmony in diversity through melody and lyrics. A solo dance performance emphasizing rhythm and musicality added grace to the event. Students of Classes VI to X enthralled the audience with an instrumental programme. The celebration highlighted the universal language of music and the creative spirit of young performers.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Samita Sinha said, “Yoga builds a healthy body and music nurtures a joyful mind. Together they prepare students for lifelong wellness.”
