In a swift move to streamline electoral preparedness, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Abhijit Sinha led a comprehensive review meeting on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) program at the Jarmundi block office auditorium. The high-level session, attended by the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), and block-level administrative staff, assessed the ground-level execution of the ongoing revision drive across the Jarmundi assembly segment.
Taking stock of the progress, the DC instructed the election team to ensure flawless and time-bound execution of all revision procedures in strict alignment with the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) framework. Sinha put a premium on achieving a 100 percent distribution rate for the Enumeration Forms (EF) alongside their swift digitization. Taking note of laxity and delays in certain pockets, the DC expressed strong dissatisfaction with the pace of work and slapped show-cause notices on several Booth Level Officer (BLO) supervisors, warning against any further complacency.
Sinha directed the senior block election officials to maintain a hands-on approach by establishing daily coordination with the BLOs. He emphasized that the daily tracking of form distribution, collection, and data entry must be optimized, urging the deployment of extra administrative push in areas lagging behind schedule. Reaffirming the ECI’s core objective, the DC stated that no eligible citizen should be left out of the electoral rolls and called for an immediate resolution of all pending verification cases to make the campaign a complete success.
Extending his visit beyond official briefings, the Deputy Commissioner also walked into the public arena of the block office to interact with visiting locals. Sinha directly engaged with citizens to understand their grievances, checking if they encountered any delays or systemic hurdles. He subsequently directed the Block Development Officer (BDO) to institutionalize a priority-based grievance redressal system at the block office, ensuring that common citizens do not face unwarranted harassment while seeking government services.
