In a major policy shift, the Jharkhand government is set to revamp its flagship welfare scheme, the Mukhyamantri Maiyan Samman Yojana. Under the upcoming framework, the state’s 51 lakh beneficiary women will no longer face staggered monthly disbursements. The government is finalizing a mechanism to transfer the monthly financial assistance of ₹2,500 directly into all beneficiaries’ bank accounts simultaneously on a fixed date.
The Hemant Soren government will observe a designated ‘Maiyan Samman Diwas’ every month. On this specific day, funds will be pushed instantly through a centralized Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) network.
The Department of Women, Child Development and Social Security is currently refining the administrative and technical procedures required for this rollout. Currently, the payment distribution process is complex and multi-layered. Funds are first allocated from the state to the district level before being routed to individual accounts. This decentralized model causes significant delays and varying payment timelines across the state—for instance, beneficiaries in Ranchi might receive their money on the 10th of the month, while those in Palamu have to wait until the 15th.
Expected to launch in October, the revamped system promises higher transparency and efficiency. To facilitate this transition, the Jharkhand Agency for Promotion of Information Technology (JAP-IT) has developed a dedicated portal designed to bypass district-level intermediaries.
This model mirrors successful single-day distribution frameworks implemented in other states, such as Madhya Pradesh’s Ladli Behna Yojana. Ahead of this structural overhaul, the state government has already cleared the cumulative installment covering April to June. A lumpsum amount of ₹7,500 (representing the three-month period) has been credited via DBT to the verified accounts of eligible women.
