In a major step towards strengthening the power infrastructure of Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL), the third 220 kV CTPS–MRS transmission line was formally commissioned on Monday. The facility was dedicated to service at a programme held at the Main Receiving Sub-Station (MRS) in the DNW area by BSL’s Director In-Charge and Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) Member (Technical).
The 8.6-km transmission line, connecting Chandrapura Thermal Power Station (CTPS) with BSL’s Main Receiving Sub-Station, has been constructed using 29 monopoles. The project marks DVC’s first use of monopole technology, which requires less land and enables faster, more efficient infrastructure development.
Officials said the line was charged on July 10 and formally commissioned after successful completion of all testing and commissioning procedures. The new transmission line will enhance the reliability, safety and stability of BSL’s power supply, ensuring uninterrupted electricity for production units and improving overall operational efficiency. Senior officials of BSL and DVC attended the programme and appreciated the efforts of all teams involved in the successful execution of the project.
