Two senior Cong leaders suspended over alleged Muslims remarks

The Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee has suspended two senior party leaders for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Muslims. The action was taken on the recommendation of the party’s state disciplinary committee.
The two leaders had allegedly made the remarks nearly two months ago while they were stuck in a traffic jam in Ormanjhi. Muslims were reportedly holding a road blockade protest at the time, resulting in a long queue of vehicles on the road.
According to party sources, the two leaders, who were travelling to Hazaribagh, became agitated after getting caught in the traffic and allegedly made objectionable remarks against members of the Muslim community. Their comments were made during a Facebook Live session and subsequently went viral on social media.
Following complaints from some party leaders, the Congress issued show-cause notices to the two leaders. The party’s disciplinary committee subsequently recommended action, leading to their suspension.
One of the remarks attributed to the leaders reportedly referred to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the context of Muslims, triggering further controversy.
Abhilash Sahu has previously represented the Congress Backward Classes wing, while Amarendra Pratap Singh is the son of senior Congress leader late P.N. Singh.
