District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Megha Bhardwaj on Wednesday inspected several polling stations in Maheshpur Assembly constituency to review the progress of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 of the electoral rolls, being carried out under the directions of the Election Commission of India.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner inspected Polling Station No. 203 at Khajurdangal and Polling Stations No. 204 and 205 at Basetkundi. She reviewed the implementation of the revision process and assessed the progress of field-level activities.
Bhardwaj conducted a detailed review of the work being carried out by Booth Level Officers (BLOs), including the maintenance of enumeration forms, door-to-door verification, the status of applications received, and compliance with the Election Commission’s guidelines. She directed officials to ensure the accuracy, quality and timely completion of all records and documentation.
The Deputy Commissioner said the multi-level training provided to BLOs and supervisors had produced encouraging results, with officials correctly guiding voters in filling out enumeration forms. She expressed satisfaction over the quality of work, stating that no major discrepancies were found during the inspection. Minor errors, if any, were being identified and corrected by BLOs and supervisors before further processing.
Interacting with voters at the polling stations, Bhardwaj urged citizens to verify their names in the electoral roll and submit applications for inclusion, correction or other necessary changes within the prescribed time. She also appealed to residents to encourage eligible family members and neighbours to participate in the revision exercise.
Emphasising that an accurate electoral roll is the foundation of a strong democracy, she said the district administration is committed to completing the Special Intensive Revision in a transparent, error-free and time-bound manner.
Assistant Electoral Registration Officer-cum-Block Development Officer of Pakuria, Somnath Banerjee, along with BLO supervisors and Booth Level Officers, was present during the inspection.
