Power grid expands to 133 remote Dumka villages under MUJY

The Jharkhand government’s flagship initiative, the ‘Mukhyamantri Ujjwal Jharkhand Yojana’ (MUJY), has triggered a massive transformation across the rural landscape of Dumka, where a war-footing campaign is underway to bring electricity to the most remote, historically neglected hamlets and neighborhoods. Divulging the progress of this extensive electrification drive, Amitabh Bachchan Soren, Executive Engineer of the Electrical Supply Division in Dumka, emphasized that rural power infrastructure is being reinforced at an unprecedented pace to integrate these isolated pockets into the mainstream energy grid.
Out of the 190 remote villages originally earmarked for comprehensive electrification under the specialized scheme, departmental efficiency has already enabled the successful illumination of 133 villages. This rapid rollout has brought immediate relief and socio-economic benefits to a significant portion of the district’s rural populace.
On-the-ground metrics reveal that over 1,025 households have now been equipped with official electricity meters. By regularizing connections and formalizing consumers into the grid, the power supply has been successfully commissioned into these homes, effectively ending generations of darkness for countless rural families and fostering a newfound sense of development.
To ensure that the newly energized grids deliver stable voltage without frequent outages, the department has strategically deployed 108 brand-new transformers across the district. Alongside this hardware expansion, the modernization of the local distribution network has seen the installation of 130 kilometers of Low-Tension (LT) Aerial Bunched cables and 26 circuit kilometers (CKM) of High-Tension (HT) Rabbit wire. Reassuring the public of total saturation, the Executive Engineer stated that the remaining hamlets and villages would be fully integrated into the grid within the stipulated deadline, ensuring no household is left behind.
