Munger, August 28. The one-month Shravani Yoga Sadhana, organised on the occasion of Chaturmas at the Paduka Darshan parisar of the Sannyas Peeth in the Yoga City of Munger, concluded on Friday. Conducted under the guidance of instructors from the Bihar School of Yoga, the programme enabled the people of Munger to practise yoga postures, pranayama, mantra sadhana, meditation and relaxation on a regular basis.
The concluding session commenced with the recitation of the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra, the Gayatri Mantra and the thirty-two names of Goddess Durga. The practitioners were thereafter guided through Tadasana, Tiryak Tadasana, Katichakrasana, Surya Namaskar, Viparita Karani, Bhujangasana, Nadi Shodhana Pranayama and Bhramari Pranayama. This was followed by practices of relaxation and Yoga Nidra. On the concluding day, the practitioners were also introduced to the Yoga Capsule. The yoga session was conducted by Buddhichaitanya.
On the occasion, Swami Shivadhyanam said that the purpose of the month-long training was not to confine yoga merely to a camp or a period of spiritual practice. The practitioners should incorporate the practices learnt during the training into their daily lives. He emphasised that the true efficacy of yoga lies in regularity and continuity of practice. Its benefits can be experienced in a lasting manner only when yoga becomes an integral part of one’s daily routine.
He further said that during the Shravani Yoga Sadhana, participants were taught various yoga postures and pranayama practices, along with exercises that could be performed within a short period of time. In this context, the Yoga Capsule was introduced so that people could find time for yoga even amidst their busy schedules.
According to the methodology of the Bihar School of Yoga, the Yoga Capsule is a concise form of yogic practice. It begins with mantra sadhana and incorporates essential yoga postures, pranayama and relaxation within a limited period. Its purpose is to make the incorporation of yoga into daily life simple, practical and sustainable.
Throughout the Shravani Yoga Sadhana, a yoga practice session was held every morning, while Shravani Mantra Sadhana was conducted in the afternoon. Organised during Chaturmas, the programme presented yoga not merely as a means of physical well-being, but also as a discipline conducive to mental balance, concentration and self-discipline.
It may be noted that the Shravani Yoga Sadhana is commenced at the Paduka Darshan परिसर for a period of one month from the second day after Guru Purnima. During this period, arrangements are made for the residents of Munger to undertake regular yoga practice. At the conclusion of the programme, the instructors advised the practitioners to continue their practice beyond the month-long programme and to make yoga an integral part of their daily routine.
