Under the aegis of the Department of Industry, Government of Jharkhand, a one-day awareness-cum-registration camp on the Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) was organized at the District Industry Centre auditorium in Dumka on Wednesday under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme. The primary objective of the event was to acquaint local entrepreneurs with the nuances of international trade, the procedural significance of the Importer-Exporter Code, registration mechanics, and the vast commercial opportunities available in the global marketplace.
Addressing the gathering, Das Kumar Ekka, General Manager of the District Industry Centre, Dumka, emphasized that obtaining an IEC has become an essential prerequisite for taking local products to national and international markets in the contemporary business landscape. He urged entrepreneurs to leverage these governmental facilities to scale up their enterprises, thereby actively contributing to the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat and a prosperous Jharkhand.
The technical sessions featured detailed expositions by various domain experts. State Tax Officer Pradeep Kumar Mehra deliberated on export-related tax regulations, GST compliance, and operational procedures, effectively resolving queries raised by the participants. Adding a financial perspective, Ajit Kumar, Branch Manager at India Post Payments Bank, highlighted the importance of digital financial services, banking support systems, and financial inclusion to encourage modern transactional methods among traders.
Further simplifying the administrative procedures, Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) Manager Manoj Kumar Pramanik provided a step-by-step walkthrough of the online IEC application process via the DGFT portal, detailing the required documentation and digital protocols. He encouraged local business owners to actively tap into various government incentive schemes designed to foster export capability. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local business persons and budding entrepreneurs from across the district, who gained valuable insights and practical guidance on initiating export operations.
