Workers of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) staged a protest in Pakur on Thursday against the alleged police action on students demonstrating in New Delhi over the NEET-2026 examination controversy and alleged irregularities in the CBSE evaluation process.
Led by JMM district president Azizul Islam, party workers marched through the town before burning an effigy of the Central government at Rabindra Chowk. The protest was organized in solidarity with students and youth who had been demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and raising concerns over the conduct of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) 2026 and the CBSE marking process.
Addressing the gathering, Azizul Islam condemned the alleged lathi-charge on students at Jantar Mantar, accusing the Central government of attempting to suppress a peaceful democratic protest. He alleged that instead of addressing the concerns of students, the government had resorted to force.
He also criticized the BJP-led government over employment issues, claiming that despite promises of creating two crore jobs annually, repeated examination controversies and paper leak allegations had undermined the aspirations of young people. Referring to the recent NEET controversy, he alleged that students who prepared sincerely for competitive examinations had been unfairly affected.
JMM district vice-president Haji Samad Ali, central committee members Shyam Yadav and Upasana Marandi also addressed the gathering, accusing the Central government of failing to safeguard students’ interests. They condemned the alleged police action and reiterated the party’s support for students and youth demanding a fair and transparent examination system.
Several senior JMM leaders and office-bearers, including Peter Marandi, Umar Farooq, Musloddin Ansari, Kunal Alfred Hembram, Sunil Tudu, Josephina Hembram, Dason Murmu, Tausif Iqbal, and representatives from the party’s youth, women’s, student, and block committees, participated in the demonstration along with hundreds of party workers.
