NIT Jamshedpur inks research MoU with CSIR–NML

Reinforcing its commitment to research excellence and innovation, the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CSIR–National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR–NML), Jamshedpur on Wednesday. The MoU aims to foster collaborative research, promote interdisciplinary innovation, facilitate knowledge exchange, and strengthen academic–research partnerships between the two premier institutions.

The MoU was signed by Prof. (Dr.) Satish Kumar, Dean (Research & Consultancy), NIT Jamshedpur, and Dr. Shital Kumar Pali, Scientist and Head, RPD, CSIR–NML, in the presence of Dr. Sandeep Ghosh Chowdhury, Director, CSIR–NML. The ceremony was also attended by Dr. Tushar Banerjee, Associate Dean (Research), Prof. N. K. Sahoo, Professor of Practice, and Prof. Sitendu Mandal, Professor of Practice, along with faculty members and officials from both institutions.

In his message, Prof. Goutam Sutradhar, Director, NIT Jamshedpur, described the MoU as a significant milestone in the Institute’s pursuit of research excellence. He emphasized that strategic collaborations with premier national research laboratories such as CSIR–NML would accelerate interdisciplinary research, foster innovation, facilitate technology transfer, and create valuable opportunities for faculty members, researchers, and students to undertake high-impact research addressing national priorities.

The collaboration will provide a strong platform for joint research projects, faculty and researcher interactions, student internships, access to advanced research infrastructure, and the organization of workshops, seminars, and training programmes. It is also expected to encourage innovation, intellectual property creation, and the translation of research outcomes into technologies that benefit industry and society.
