Acid attack survivor Fatma to pursue studies in London

After facing vicious accidents like acid attack Reshma Fatima from Jamshedpur selected for the British Government’s prestigious Chevening Scholarship. Now she will pursue higher education at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Fatima informed that her journey following the acid attack was far from easy; she faced numerous challenges. “An acid attack is an event with lifelong repercussions. She faced two choices: either confine herself to a room at home and live in fear, or step out, carve an identity for herself, and become an inspiration to others. She chose the latter path and made education her greatest weapon,” she added.
Fatma also runs a foundation through which she works to encourage girls to pursue education.
The Girl from Jamshedpur will not only receive free education at the London School of Economics and Political Science but will also be provided with accommodation, meals, and other amenities. She will pursue a Master’s degree in Gender, Development, and Globalization.
Fatima further said she applied for the scholarship last year. Following her application, she had to navigate several stages of the selection process, including an interview, before finally being selected.
Resham Fatma was the victim of an acid attack in 2014. Even after this incident, she did not give up and continued to move forward. In 2015, she was honored with the National Bravery Award by the then Prime Minister and President. SHe completed her undergraduate studies at Jamia Millia Islamia and her postgraduate studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Now, she has been selected for the Chevening Scholarship, one of the world’s prestigious international scholarships.
A traumatic event like an acid attack can bring a person’s life to a standstill, but Resham Fatma from Jamshedpur overcame her circumstances through courage, determination, and the power of education. Despite falling victim to an acid attack in 2014, she refused to give up and persevered through her determination.
