Jharkhand’s rich handloom heritage and tribal craftsmanship have emerged as a major attraction at Bharat Tex 2026, being held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from July 14 to 17. The state’s pavilion is witnessing a steady stream of visitors, including buyers, exporters, fashion designers and industry representatives from India and abroad, who are appreciating the quality, craftsmanship and cultural significance of its traditional products.
The highlight of the pavilion is the display of Jharkhand’s recently awarded Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged products, which have helped bring national and international recognition to the state’s traditional weaving and handicrafts while opening new market opportunities for local artisans and weavers.
Among the featured products are Tasar Silk, Kuchai Silk, Bhagaiya Saree and Fabric, Dumka Chadar, Bhoya Saree and Fabric, and Panchi Saree and Fabric. Each product reflects the state’s unique weaving traditions and cultural identity.
Tasar Silk, for which Jharkhand is one of India’s leading producers, is renowned for its natural sheen, durability and eco-friendly production process. Kuchai Silk from Seraikela-Kharsawan district is known for its fine weave, elegant texture and natural colours. Bhagaiya Sarees, woven by artisans in Sahibganj district, are admired for their handcrafted designs and use of natural dyes.
The traditional Dumka Chadar, a symbol of Santhal Pargana’s handloom heritage, is recognised for its sturdy cotton fabric, comfort and distinctive borders. Bhoya Sarees showcase vibrant colours and tribal artistry, while Panchi Sarees feature striking geometric motifs inspired by Jharkhand’s indigenous culture.
Visitors have praised the products for their authenticity, craftsmanship and sustainable production methods. Several buyers and exporters have also expressed interest in exploring commercial partnerships, highlighting the growing global market potential of Jharkhand’s GI-tagged handloom products.
Officials said the state’s participation at Bharat Tex 2026 is expected to enhance the visibility of its traditional textiles and create greater economic opportunities for local weavers and artisans through access to national and international markets.
