Bokaro DC emphasises dignity for senior citizens during Old Age Home visit

Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha and Deputy Development Commissioner Shatabdi Majumdar on Saturday visited Baba Baidyanath Jan Seva Samiti Old Age Home at Solagidih in Chas and interacted with its residents, reaffirming the district administration’s commitment to responsive governance and elderly care.
The officials enquired about the well-being of the residents and listened to their needs and concerns. Chas Municipal Corporation Mayor Bholu Paswan, Deputy Mayor Pooja Kumari and the local ward councillor were also present.
Describing senior citizens as invaluable members of society, the Deputy Commissioner said the administration is committed to ensuring their dignity, security and well-being. He directed officials to complete the development of Guruji Vatika within the premises by June 30, 2026, with facilities such as pathways, paver blocks and seating arrangements to create a more senior citizen-friendly environment.
Additional Municipal Commissioner Sanjeev Kumar informed that the DPR for the project has already been prepared and work is expected to begin shortly.
The DC also instructed doctors from Atal Clinic to conduct weekly health check-ups at the old age home and directed the Civil Surgeon to ensure similar arrangements at all old age homes across the district through a dedicated roster system.
During the visit, fruits and food packets were distributed among the residents, and officials spent time interacting with them. A plantation drive was also carried out at Guruji Vatika to promote a greener and more pleasant environment.
District Social Welfare Officer Dr Suman Gupta, District Public Relations Officer Ravi Kumar, Assistant Public Relations Officer Avinash Kumar Singh and other officials were present on the occasion.
