The Public Health Department of Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) has launched an intensive township-wide anti-larval inspection and public awareness campaign to prevent mosquito-borne diseases during the monsoon. As part of the initiative, six dedicated teams are conducting inspections across all sectors, identifying mosquito breeding sites, eliminating stagnant water and carrying out anti-larval treatment at residential premises.
The department has appealed to residents to prevent water stagnation in coolers, flower pots, buckets and other containers, clean coolers at least once a week, keep water storage tanks covered, and avoid accumulating discarded items such as tyres, bottles and scrap that can collect rainwater. Citizens have also been advised to seek immediate medical attention if they experience symptoms of dengue, malaria or chikungunya and to cooperate with authorised public health teams during inspections and anti-larval treatment. The initiative aims to minimise mosquito breeding at the source and ensure a healthier township during the monsoon season.
