The Coal Range Police Sports Meet was inaugurated on Saturday at the Police Lines Ground in Sector-12, Bokaro, by Inspector General of Police (North Chotanagpur Range) Shailendra Kumar Sinha in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha. Superintendent of Police Nathu Singh Meena and senior police and civil administration officials also attended the inaugural ceremony.
Before the event, the dignitaries paid floral tributes to martyrs at the Shaheed Memorial. They later interacted with players representing different teams and wished them success in the competition.
Addressing the gathering, IG Sinha said sports strengthen discipline, teamwork and coordination within the police force while enhancing physical fitness and mental resilience. He urged participants to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and strive for excellence through dedication and hard work.
Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha encouraged the participants and appreciated the role of such events in promoting fitness, camaraderie and coordination among police personnel.
The annual meet features competitions in cricket, football, hockey, kabaddi, volleyball, basketball, kho-kho, handball and athletics. A total of 254 players, including 139 from Dhanbad District Police and 115 from Bokaro District Police, are participating in the tournament.
