The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday carried out searches at multiple locations in Saraswati Nagar and Tuiladungri under the Golmuri police station area as part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged cyber fraud case. The operation triggered considerable activity in the neighbourhoods, drawing large crowds of curious residents.
During the raid, CBI officials detained a youth identified as Rajdeep for questioning. He was interrogated for several hours after preliminary investigations reportedly revealed that the mobile SIM card allegedly used to open a bank account linked to the cyber fraud case was registered in his name.
Investigators are examining whether Rajdeep had any direct involvement in the alleged fraud or whether his identity surfaced only because of documentary records connected to the SIM card and bank account. Officials have not confirmed his role in the case, and the investigation remains underway.
In a parallel operation, another CBI team visited the residence of Jasbir Singh in Tuiladungri, where officials scrutinised documents and gathered relevant information. However, the agency has not disclosed Jasbir Singh’s connection to the case or whether he is being treated as a witness or a suspect.
Sources said the CBI is piecing together evidence by analysing bank accounts, mobile SIM registrations and other documents believed to be linked to the cyber fraud network. Officials are attempting to establish the chain of transactions and identify individuals who may have facilitated or benefited from the alleged racket.
No official statement has been issued by the CBI regarding the raids or the progress of the investigation. Officials indicated that further action, if any, will depend on the outcome of the ongoing probe and the evidence collected during the searches.
