On the occasion of World Environment Day 2026, the Environment Department at Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) organized drawing, slogan writing, and essay competitions for children.
Organized in alignment with this year’s global theme—”Inspired by Nature, For the Climate, For Our Future”—the event aimed to foster environmental awareness among children and youth, as well as to encourage their creative talents.
Approximately 250 children across various age groups participated enthusiastically in the competitions. Through their drawings, slogans, and essays, the participants effectively articulated their thoughts and concerns regarding critical themes such as environmental conservation, awareness of climate change, biodiversity preservation, and sustainable lifestyles.
Director (Planning and Projects), Anup Hanjura graced the event as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized the imperative of cultivating environmental consciousness among children, stating that today’s youth constitute the very foundation of a sustainable and green future. He further highlighted the pivotal role children play in transforming environmental conservation into a mass movement.
This event not only provided a powerful platform for young participants to express their commitment to environmental conservation but also reinforced the message of collective responsibility toward protecting the Earth and ensuring sustainable development.
Notably, the winners of the competitions will be felicitated at a ceremony to be held at the CCL headquarters on June 5th.
