Deadline set for voter list mapping by June 15
Pioneer News Service, Ranchi
Ranchi. Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar has directed all officials to ensure completion of voter list mapping under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise by June 15, 2026. He clarified that voters who have been successfully mapped will generally not be required to submit any additional documents during the SIR process.
He stated that in case a voter remains unmapped, their name will not be deleted from the draft electoral roll. Such voters will receive a notice from the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) during the SIR process and will be required to submit relevant documents based on their date of birth, including those related to self, parents, or grandparents. The final electoral roll will be published on October 7, 2026, after disposal of claims and objections.
The Chief Electoral Officer was reviewing the preparedness for the SIR process across the state through an online meeting with District निर्वाचन Officers from the Election Headquarters. He emphasized close monitoring of the mapping process and warned that incorrect mappings would be flagged as anomaly cases, which will be heard and resolved by the ERO. Such cases will also undergo the same process as unmapped voters.
Officials have been instructed to establish contact with all unmapped voters and identify cases under categories such as absent, shifted, deceased, duplicate, and non-citizen voters.
Kumar reiterated that the primary objective of the SIR exercise is to ensure that no eligible Indian citizen is left out of the electoral roll, while also preventing non-citizens from being included.
During the review, detailed presentations were made explaining the mapping process, SIR procedures, and required documentation. He directed that the names and phone numbers of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) must be mentioned in enumeration forms and that no changes in BLO deployment should be made after June 15.
He also interacted with BLOs showing low mapping progress, reviewed the reasons, and instructed officials to undertake capacity-building measures. Additionally, he directed that all pending applications under Forms 6, 7, and 8 be cleared by June 15.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Electoral Officer Subodh Kumar, Training Nodal Officer Dev Das Dutta, Deputy Electoral Officer Dheeraj Kumar Thakur, Assistant Electoral Officer Sunil Kumar, along with district-level officials through virtual mode.
