Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) marked World Environment Day with a tree plantation and public awareness programme under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign at the Staff Training Centre (STC), Gandhinagar. The initiative was organised under the guidance of Arpita Mahila Mandal Chairperson Preeti Singh and witnessed enthusiastic participation from CCL employees, their family members and members of the Arpita Mahila Mandal.
The programme was attended by Rita Tiwari and Neeru Hanjura, whose presence added significance to the event. As part of the campaign, members of the Arpita Mahila Mandal actively participated in planting saplings of various species to promote environmental conservation and a greener lifestyle.
Around 200 saplings were distributed among local residents during the event. The saplings included medicinal, fruit-bearing and flowering plants. Participants used the occasion to spread awareness about the importance of protecting the environment and encouraged people to plant and nurture trees. They also urged individuals to take a pledge to contribute towards environmental conservation through sustained plantation efforts.
In addition to the plantation drive, food packets were distributed among needy people as part of the organisation’s social responsibility initiatives. The combined focus on environmental protection and community welfare was appreciated by local residents, who described the programme as an inspiring step towards building a more sustainable and compassionate society.
Speaking on the occasion, Arpita Mahila Mandal Chairperson Preeti Singh said that World Environment Day serves as a reminder of humanity’s responsibility towards nature. She said the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign is a meaningful initiative that expresses respect for both motherhood and nature. She appealed to everyone to plant at least one tree and take responsibility for its care so that future generations can inherit a clean, green and healthy environment.
A large number of CCL employees and members of the Arpita Mahila Mandal attended the programme. Reaffirming their commitment to environmental protection, participants pledged to undertake more plantation activities and contribute towards creating a greener future.
