The Jharkhand Congress on Monday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of attempting to obstruct the construction of the proposed RIMS-2 hospital by allegedly using the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) for political purposes.
Addressing the media, Congress spokesperson Akhtar Ali alleged that the BJP was trying to delay a major healthcare project that would benefit millions of people in the state. He claimed the party was resorting to “development-opposing politics” after losing public support.
Ali alleged that the BJP was misusing constitutional institutions to hinder development projects in Jharkhand and asserted that the state government would not bow to what he described as politically motivated pressure.
He further stated that recommendations made by constitutional commissions are advisory in nature and maintained that the state government remains committed to completing the RIMS-2 project in the larger public interest.
The Jharkhand Congress spokesperson also accused the BJP of adopting contradictory positions by claiming to support tribal welfare while allegedly creating hurdles in the construction of a healthcare facility that, according to him, would improve access to advanced medical services for tribal and economically weaker sections of society.
Ali said the Hemant Soren-led government was determined to complete the RIMS-2 project, describing it as a transformative initiative for Jharkhand’s healthcare infrastructure.
Questioning the BJP’s stand, he asked whether the opposition wanted to deny better healthcare facilities to the people of Jharkhand and whether opposing development had become its primary political agenda.
