Growing resentment is reportedly prevailing among the Indian Forest Service (IFS) fraternity in Jharkhand over the alleged inordinate delay in transfer and posting of officers across various forest divisions and wings of the department.
Administrative sources said the Establishment Committee meeting was held in the first week of August, triggering expectations of an early transfer and posting order. However, with August nearing its end, no notification has reportedly been issued, leaving several officers awaiting postings and affecting the functioning of forest offices from district headquarters to range level.
Sources said four IFS officers of the 2022 batch have been awaiting posting for nearly two years, while four officers of the 2023 batch are also reportedly waiting for assignments.
The delay has added to dissatisfaction among young IFS officers, particularly over the continuation of some officers in key postings for more than three years, sources claimed.
Meanwhile, promotions are also reportedly pending. Two or three Divisional Forest Officers (DFOs) are said to be overdue for elevation to the rank of Conservator of Forests (CF).
Chief Minister Hemant Soren holds the Forest, Environment and Climate Change portfolio, and attention is now focused on the Chief Minister’s Office for the long-awaited notification.
